| Musical beginnings: It was all over after receiving Kiss Alive II for my eleventh birthday. From then on, I wanted to grow my hair and rock! Band history: After being fired from a band for having too much of that "Bon Scott" thing in my voice, I decided to try to find an AC/DC-like band to have fun and rock out with. A quick internet search produced Powerage, a local AC/DC tribute band. I contacted their manager to “put my name on the list” if they ever needed a fill-in or replacement singer. Come to find out that their current singer was leaving the band to pursue a high tech career in Seattle. I checked out the band at a local club (where I was going to see a Led Zeppelin tribute band anyway) and thought that they were great players and really nice guys. We arranged an audition the next week, and I was blown away by how many AC/DC songs these guys knew! There was definitely something magical happening at that tryout for me. And even though they told me that they were trying out a few other singers, I have been rocking out with them since November 1997. Favorite Interests / pastime: Hard rock / heavy metal music, Grateful Dead / Dave Matthews Band music, roller coaster amusement parks, football, video games, golf, Texas Hold 'em Poker, and enjoying life with my cool rocker chick wife. Favorite foods: Anything brunch (eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, etc.), sushi, chocolate (is chocolate a food?), Ben & Jerry's ice cream Favorite TV shows: ER, Seinfeld, The Apprentice, Monk, American Idol (yeah, I know), Cops, Jerry Springer, South Park Would love to jam with: The rest of AC/DC after Brian Johnson finally blows his voice out, or the rest of Black Sabbath when Ozzy finally blows his voice out Ambitions: Enjoy the crap out of this time with Powerage, grow spiritually, keep close with my wife, my family, and my loved ones Nickname: Scotty T-Bone, Scotty Bon Scott, Scotty Osbourne, Scotty Butthead First show: My first show / concert was Van Halen at The Oakland Coliseum in 1981. My first public performance was with a high school band Switch 625 in 1984 (we covered Def Leppard and Van Halen - go figure). My first show with Powerage was at The Lost & Found in San Francisco in December, 1997. Turn-ons: Bands that have "the tone" with a monster open E / open A chord, scary-ass roller coasters, expressive / surrealist art, a great lead singer scream (think Daltrey, Cornell, Halford, etc.) sexy rocker chicks (like the one I married), football Sunday Turnoffs: Cigarette smoking, country music, ignorance, apathy, intolerance, hate, politicians, early-morning garbage trucks In my next life I would like to be: You Favorite quote: "If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me" (RP). "It's good to be The King" (MB). "Inspiration, move me brightly. Light the song with sense and color; hold away despair" (RH), "Well, there you go" (ST). |
